You don’t need hours of study time to get better at English. A few small habits can make speaking feel easier and less scary. If you freeze when it’s your turn to talk, these tips can help you practise in a simple, low-pressure way.
1. Talk to yourself for one minute
Pick an easy topic like your day, your lunch, or your weekend plans. Set a timer and speak out loud for one minute. It might feel strange at first, but it helps your brain get used to making English sentences faster.
2. Read something short out loud
Choose a short post, a text message, or a few lines from a book. Read it out loud slowly, then read it again with a bit more confidence. This helps your mouth get used to English sounds and rhythm.
3. Copy one short video a day
Find a short video in English and listen to one sentence at a time. Pause it, then say the same sentence out loud. This is a great way to practise natural speaking without having to think of every word by yourself.
4. Keep a small voice note diary
At the end of the day, record a quick voice note on your phone in English. Talk for one or two minutes about something that happened at school or how you’re feeling. You don’t need to sound perfect. You just need to keep speaking.
5. Learn phrases, not just single words
When you learn a new word, write down a full phrase with it. For example, don’t just learn “nervous.” Learn “I felt nervous before my class.” This makes it much easier to use English when you need to speak.
